PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Eastern Kentucky University’s volleyball team lost a pair of matches on the first day of the Pitt Classic in Pittsburgh, Pa. The University of Pittsburgh (2-2) beat Eastern 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-12). The Colonels (1-4) fell to Ohio in their second match of the day by a score of 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-8).
Freshman Ashley Horak led Eastern with five kills against Pittsburgh. Freshman Jill Henneman had 11 assists. Sophomore Abby O’Connor led the squad with 11 digs.
Against Ohio, newcomer Lindsey Loescher led Eastern with 11 kills. She also had five digs and two block assists. Senior Amanda Wilson finished with nine kills. O’Connor added 13 more digs and Henneman posted 24 assists.
Eastern Kentucky will conclude play with a match against Binghamton on Saturday at 11 a.m.
