LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team fell to #2 Virginia (6-0) and #14 Kentucky (5-1) Saturday evening. With the two losses, the Colonels fall to 2-3 this season.
Junior
Alex Das (No. 2) took the first set against Virginia’s Steven Eelkman Rooda, but was forced to retire with an injury in the second set.
Sophomore
Emilio Piriz (No. 5) earned EKU’s lone point of the day with a victory over Kentucky’s Matt Davis.
“Considering our top two players were not able to fully compete, I was happy with our level of performance against some very good competition today,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said.
Eastern Kentucky now returns home for a pair of matches on Friday, Feb. 12 – Cumberland University (9 a.m.) and Dayton (2 p.m.).
