EKU Baseball Diamond Legacy Dinner Set for Feb. 5

Former EKU baseball great Josh Anderson will serve as the guest speaker at the Diamond Legacy Dinner
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will kick off the 2011 season by hosting its 11th annual Diamond Legacy Dinner on Saturday, February 5 at 6 p.m. in the Keen Johnson Ballroom. The cost of the event is $25 per ticket and all Colonel baseball supporters are invited to attend.

The guest speaker for the evening will be former Colonel baseball player and EKU Athletics Hall of Fame member Josh Anderson. Anderson was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2003 and has played for four major league teams since he was drafted after his junior season by the Houston Astros in the fourth round of the 2003 draft. The Eubank, Ky. native was Eastern’s first-ever first-team Louisville Slugger All-American as a junior after leading the nation with 57 stolen bases and batting .447. He holds five EKU records, including single-season marks for runs (80), hits (106), singles (74) and stolen bases (57), and a career record for stolen bases (119).

“I am extremely excited to have Josh back on campus to speak about his exceptional career,” head coach Jason Stein said. “And, as always, the dinner will be a great kickoff to our season.”

The Colonel baseball All-Century Team will be announced at the dinner as the program celebrates 100 Years of EKU Baseball.The program will also include recognition of the 2011 Colonels as well as special presentations from the EKU baseball team.
