BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, running back
Matt Denham came away with adidas OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors following Eastern Kentucky University’s 34-33 win over Murray State Saturday afternoon.
Denham, a native of Rineyville, Ky., matched his season-high with 35 rushing attempts as he ran for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the win. It marked his second-straight 200-yard rushing game and his third 200-plus yard rushing game in the last four weeks. The junior scored a 34-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game and added a 46-yard score on EKU’s opening drive of the third quarter.
Denham now ranks ninth nationally in rushing at 112.1 yards per game and also reached the 1,000-yard career rushing plateau early in the game.
The other weekly award winners were Murray State’s Qua Huzzie (Co-Defensive and Newcomer), Tennessee Tech’s Corey Watson (Co-Defensive) and Tennessee Tech’s Nick Campbell (Specialist).
EKU (5-3, 4-1 OVC) concludes its OVC road schedule this Saturday, Nov. 5 at Jacksonville State. Game time is set for 4 p.m. ET.
