RICHMOND, Ky. – For the second straight year, no NCAA Division I institution had more Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars than the Eastern Kentucky University's women's golf team, the organization announced on Monday.
Five Colonels made the list. Fifteen other schools also had five selections.
Seniors
April Emerson and
Kristen Dorsey, sophomore
Nicki Henry, and freshmen
Anna Gleixner and
Rachel Welker were chosen as 2012-13 All-American Scholars.
"I am really proud of the five student-athletes that earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors," said head coach
Mike Whitson. "It is a wonderful recognition of academic achievement. Getting the news today really capped off a great year in EKU golf."
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA for selection is 3.50.
