A dominating force on the offensive line during EKU football’s championship runs of the mid-80s, John Jackson went on to a very distinguished professional football career. Jackson was an offensive tackle on the Colonels’ 1984, 1986 and 1987 Ohio Valley Conference championship squads.

A co-captain during his senior season for EKU Athletics Hall of Fame coach Roy Kidd, Jackson earned All-Conference honors in 1986 and 1987. Chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1988 National Football League draft, Jackson played 14 years of professional football. The 10-year starter spent a decade with the Steelers, two years with the San Diego Chargers and two more with his hometown Cincinnati Bengals.

The civic-minded Jackson has helped his community and alma mater off the field through the years. Jackson started his own foundation for public high school scholarships as well as helping the EKU Football program with its facility enhancements in the Moberly and Presnell Buildings.
