LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky juniors Vadzim Ivanis and Mel Segota rolled through the competition at the Louisville Fall Men’s Tennis Invitational this past weekend, winning all four matches to capture the Flight “C” Doubles title.
Ivanis and Segota began the weekend by downing two teams from the Ohio Valley Conference – Austin Peay’s Andrew Solarski and Jay Wilkinson as well as Eastern Illinois’ Luiz Felipe Gama and Ryan Vogt. In the finals, the duo easily defeated Xavier’s Mike Dieciuc and Brian Schubert, 8-2.
“This was another two weekends in the fall where we came out with an above .500 record in singles and doubles,” head coach Rob Oertel said. “Anytime you can do that in the fall tournaments, that is a great thing.”
Meanwhile, Ivanis picked up two wins in the Flight “C” singles bracket. Also competing this past weekend for the Colonels were freshman Alejandro Das, senior Lars Gratzki, sophomore Johannes John and senior Fred Goncalves.
The men’s tennis team concludes its fall tournament schedule next weekend at the ITA Southeast Regional in Lexington, Ky.
