PINEVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team rallied from a six-shot deficit entering Tuesday’s final round to win the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off Classic for the second year in a row. Junior Trey Bowling earned individual medalist honors by finishing with a three-round total of 205 (-11). The tournament, hosted by Morehead State, was played Sept. 3-4 at Wasioto Winds Golf Course at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville.

Bowling entered Tuesday’s final round in a tie for second place only to tally a score of 68 to hold off teammate Phil Hendrickson and Tennessee-Martin’s John Slayton by two strokes. This was Bowling’s second collegiate victory as he also won the 2006 BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate. Hendrickson, who entered Tuesday’s play in 12th spot, notched the low round of the tournament (64) to tie for second place.

As a team, the Colonels finished 24-under par (840) for the 54-hole event and defeated Southern Illinois by eight shots. SIU had held the lead after the first and second rounds.

Eastern Kentucky returns to action next Monday, Sept. 10, at the BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio.
