RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team dropped two matches Saturday in the Greg Adams Tennis Center. The Colonels lost to Southern Illinois, 4-3, in the opener and then 6-1 to Southeastern Louisiana in the afternoon match. With the losses, the Colonels fall to 4-5 this spring.

Alex Das Izquierdo was the lone bright spot for EKU. The freshman improved to 7-2 at the top position this spring with a pair of straight-set victories. Senior Fred Goncalves (No. 6) also picked up a singles victory against Southern Illinois.

“Das played a gritty match this afternoon against Southeastern Louisiana,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “I can’t say enough about his effort today.”
