CLEVELAND, Ohio
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team dropped its second straight match on Sunday, losing to Cleveland State, 1-0. The match was scoreless until the 81st minute when Viking forward Sylvia Olsby scored her first goal of the season to put Cleveland State up for good.

“We didn’t deserve to win this match today,” head coach Lindsay Basalyga said. “Cleveland State out worked us. I think we learned our lesson though, and hopefully we’ll build off this for next week.”

The Colonel back line battled Cleveland State all match, but with only nine minutes remaining, Olsby took a cross from the left side and punched a shot past EKU keeper Stephanie Lynch.

EKU out shot Cleveland State in the first half 7-3, however the Vikings came alive in the second half and out shot the Colonels 10-4 in the second.

Lynch played all 90 minutes in the net for EKU and made eight saves.

The Colonels return to the friendly confines of EKU Soccer Field on Friday, September 19, when they face Kent State in their first home match since August 24. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
