RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach
Jeff Neubauer announced today that Jaron Jones has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Colonels in 2010-11.
Jones is a 6-5 guard from Lexington, Ky., who played high school hoops at Bryan Station. The past two years Jones has played for head coach Mike St. John at Carl Albert State College in Poteau, Okla. Jones averaged 16.6 points per game while shooting 54 percent from the floor in 2009-10. Among Region II junior colleges, Jones finished among the top seven ranked players in scoring, free throw shooting (75 percent), assists (86) and steals (1.5 steals per game).
“Jaron is another good get for our program,” Neubauer said. “He’s an outstanding young man who had a great desire to come back to the commonwealth of Kentucky and play collegiate basketball.”
Eastern Kentucky has now signed six student-athletes to NLIs for the 2010-11 season. The Colonels have also added Jeff Allgood (Bellevue, Neb.), Taylor Filipek (Willmar, Minn.), Jeff Johnson (Champaign, Ill.), Deverin Muff (Strongsville, Ohio) and Jabs Newby (Toronto, Canada).
