Faouzi Named Co-OVC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Sophomore Amandine Faouzi was named the adidas co-OVC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the league office today. This is the second consecutive week a Colonel has earned the weekly award.

Faouzi, a candidate for OVC Player of the Year, went undefeated in conference singles matches this year at the No. 1 spot, winning all 10 contests in straight sets. The native of Mareil Sur Mauldre, France currently leads Eastern with 18 dual match singles victories (18-5). This past week, Faouzi also teamed up with freshman Danielle Kinnen to win both of their matches at No. 3 doubles.

The EKU women’s tennis team (17-6, 10-0 OVC) has won 22 straight conference matches dating back to 2011.

Faouzi is sharing this week’s honors with Morehead State freshman Briar Preseton. Tennessee Tech senior Syrym Abdukhalikov got the nod for OVC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

The Colonels are back in action this Saturday, April 20 in the semifinals of the OVC tournament against the winner of No. 4 Eastern Illinois and No. 5 Austin Peay. This year’s tournament is being held in Paducah, Ky.
