RICHMOND, Ky. – Shannon McQueen of Inglewood, Calif., has signed to play softball at Eastern Kentucky University, head coach Jane Worthington announced today. The 5-foot-8 third baseman will enter EKU as a freshman in the fall of 2010.

McQueen is a three-time all-league selection at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, Calif. The past two seasons she has earned first team all-league and league MVP honors.

EKU will begin its 2010 schedule at the Campus Suites Spartan Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C. Eastern will face Liberty on Feb. 19. The next day, the Colonels will take on Maryland-Baltimore County and USC Upstate. The event ends on Feb. 21 with championship and consolation games.
