Position Summary: 
The Athletics Facilities and Operations Intern will assist in the daily management and operational functions of athletic facilities and events. This role provides hands-on experience in facility maintenance, event setup and breakdown, and game-day operations. The intern will work closely with athletics staff, coaches, and external vendors to ensure the smooth execution of athletic events and facility operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facility Operations:

• Assist in the daily upkeep and management of athletic facilities, including fieldhouses, stadiums, weight rooms, and practice areas.
• Monitor facility usage and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
• Help coordinate facility scheduling and maintenance needs.
• Support risk management efforts by identifying and reporting safety hazards.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of all digital displays, ensuring they function properly for events and daily use.
• Regularly monitor digital displays for performance issues, troubleshoot technical problems, and coordinate necessary repairs or updates.
• Learn the digital display systems in-depth to provide hands-on troubleshooting and support when needed.
• Assist in updating and managing content on displays as required.
• Work closely with IT, AV teams, and vendors to ensure seamless integration and system performance.
   

Event Operations:

• Assist in the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of athletic events, including games, tournaments, and special events.
• Coordinate with game officials, teams, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
• Oversee crowd control and manage guest services to enhance the fan experience.Support logistics for visiting teams, officials, and event staff.
   

Administrative Support:

• Maintain accurate records related to facility usage, inventory, and event management.
• Assist with scheduling and communication between departments.
• Support budget tracking for operations-related expenses.
• Support distribution of BSN licensed apparel to teams and staff.
• Support distribution and allocation of department Coke Grattis allotments.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to operations planning discussions.
   

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program related to Sports Management, Facility Management, Event Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in athletics, facility management, or event operations is a plus but not required.
   

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and problem-solve under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs and carry equipment as needed for event setups.

The Student Creative Services Assistant plays a key role in supporting the visual content needs of EKU Athletics. This position provides hands-on experience in sports graphic design, photography, and videography, helping to promote athletic programs across digital, social, and in-venue platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic Design

• Design and develop graphics for use on social media, website, digital boards, print materials, and promotional campaigns.
• Create consistent visual content for all varsity sports in alignment with athletics branding guidelines.
• Assist with creation of recruiting materials and internal design needs.

Photography

• Capture high-quality photos at athletic events, practices, team functions, and promotional shoots.
• Edit, organize, and manage photo archives for use in marketing, communications, and recruiting.
• Collaborate with sports information and marketing teams to meet content needs.

Videography

• Film, edit, and produce video content including highlights, hype videos, interviews, and promotional features.
• Create video content for social media, websites, and in-venue displays.
• Assist with live game coverage and storytelling pieces to elevate the fan and student-athlete experience.
   

Additional Duties:

• Collaborate with full-time staff and fellow student workers to meet content needs.
• Assist in planning and executing creative content campaigns.
• Contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions and staff meetings.
• Stay updated on current trends in sports media and design.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

• Current undergraduate student at Eastern Kentucky University.
• Interest in sports media, graphic design, photography, or video production.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro).
• Ability to work evenings and weekends based on athletic event schedules.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

• Experience with camera equipment (photo and video).
• Previous experience creating content for social media.
• Portfolio or examples of creative work.

The EKU Athletics Marketing Department is seeking Marketing and Fan Engagement for the 2025-26 season(Summer/Fall/Spring)!  The Athletics Marketing Department creates and executes marketing plans for all varsity athletics programs as well as department and university-wide marketing initiatives. This is an unpaid position. With a small scholarship opportunity for those who qualify. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the EKU Athletic Marketing staff in the development, coordination, and implementation of marketing and promotional efforts for all 17 sports, and any specific sport to which you are assigned.
• Attend scheduled weekly/bi-weekly intern staff meetings, intern huddle meetings and optional intern development events.
• Assist in the development of full-scale marketing plans for sports as needed.
• Assist with managing public address announcers, coordinating music, video board elements, cheer squad, pep band, and other marketing needs to direct the flow of games, events and promotions as needed.
• Work special events, such as Fan Days and Spring Football Game.
• Fulfill sponsored elements such as PA announcements, promotions, and events
• Improve the atmosphere at each event through the use of games, giveaways, contests, trivia and music, etc.
• Promote athletic events and communicate promotions within the campus community
• Distribute posters and schedule cards to assigned locations, and check for refills on a bi-weekly basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Genuine interest in athletics and the sport industry
• Ability to manage time commitment and dedicated office and event hours
• Willing and available to work long hours, weekends, nights & some holidays
• Excellent oral communication skills, written communication skills, and customer service skills
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
• Ability to multi-task, stay organized, keep up with high-energy, fast paced environment
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

EKU Athletics Ticket Office Internship

2025–26 Academic Year (Summer/Fall/Spring)
The EKU Athletics Ticket Office is seeking dependable and motivated interns to assist with day-to-day ticket operations, sales, and game day support during the 2025–26 academic year. This is a great opportunity for students interested in gaining experience in athletic administration, customer service, and ticketing operations at the Division I level.

This is an unpaid position, with a small scholarship opportunity available for qualified applicants.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with daily ticket office operations, including answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting customers in person.
• Support sales initiatives through outbound calls, email communication, and walk-up sales.
• Learn and utilize ticketing software to process orders, manage accounts, and update records.
• Provide support on game days for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and other ticketed sports—this includes staffing ticket booths, will call, player guest check-in, and scanning entrances.
• Assist with season ticket mailings, group ticket coordination, and student ticket distribution.
• Help maintain organized ticket inventory and assist with reporting as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions as scheduled.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Interest in athletics, event operations, or customer service.
• Reliable, professional, and able to handle confidential information.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and gamedays.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Excel is a plus.
