RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team has signed seven high school seniors in the class of 2013. The following is a look at how those seven fared during their senior seasons.
Nicole Bowers (6-2, F/C, Nashville, Tenn., Hillsboro HS)
- Averaged a double-double (12.1 points-per-game, 10.4 rebounds-per-game) as a senior
- Led Hillsboro High to a 28-6 record
- Named to
The Tennessean All-MidState Team
- Named MVP of the District 11-AAA Tournament
- Earned first team All-District 11-AAA and first team All-Metro honors
Amadi Brooks (6-0, G, Douglasville, Ga., Douglas County HS)
- Averaged 11.3 points-per-game, 5.3 rebounds-per-game as a senior
- Led Douglas County High to a 20-8 record
- Named to the all-county team
- Earned first team All-Region 3-AAAAAA honors
Cierra Drake (6-3, F/C, Bardstown, Ky., Nelson County HS)
- Averaged 14.1 points-per-game, 8.9 rebounds-per-game as a senior
- Finished her career with 1,332 points
- Led Nelson County High to a 27-6 record
- Named a Rick Bolus Top-10 Player in the state of Kentucky
- Earned first team All-5th Region honors
Michaela Hunter (5-9, G, Mount Vernon, Ky., Rockcastle County HS)
- Averaged 21.6 points-per-game, 8.7 rebounds-per-game, 3.6 assists-per-game and 4.1 steals-per-game as a senior
- Named a Kentucky All-Star
- Earned first team WYMT All-Mountain and first team All-12th Region honors
Mariah Massengill (5-4, G, Harrison, Tenn., Silverdale Baptist Academy)
- Averaged 23.8 points-per-game, 4.3 assists-per-game and 3.5 steals-per-game as a senior
- Finished her four-year high school career with 2,466 points
- Led Silverdale Baptist to a District 5-A championship
- Named the MVP of the District 5-A Tournament
- Named TSWA first team all-state (Class A)
- Earned first team all-region, first team All-District 5-A and first team Best of Preps honors
Katie Pippen (5-9, G, Lexington, Ky., Tates Creek HS)
- Named first team all-city
Kasey Young (5-11, G, Danville, Ky., Danville HS)
- Posted averages of 20.8 points-per-game and 8.0 rebounds-per-game as a senior
- Finished her career with 2,143 points, second all-time at Danville HS
- Scored 40 points in a game versus Garrard County HS in 2012-13
- Named the Advocate-Messenger Area Co-Player of the Year
- Earned 12th Region All-A Player of the Year honors
