RICHMOND, Ky.
 – Over the spring and summer, we will be profiling members of the Eastern Kentucky soccer team. Next up: junior Anna Hall.

Anna, a special education major from Ross, Ohio, has started 35 games at goalkeeper and ranks fourth all-time at EKU with 158 career saves. However, before she was stopping goals, Anna was scoring goals. A lot of them.

EKUSports: You're a goalkeeper now. But, in high school, you were a forward? Tell us a little bit about that.

Anna Hall: Yes. I played forward my freshman and sophomore years of high school, because my sister, Nicole, was the goalkeeper for our team.

ES: Nicole is your older sister?

AH: Yes. She actually played keeper at Western Kentucky. After Nicole graduated, I played keeper my last two years of high school. But, as a forward, I was the second-leading scorer on our team both my freshman and sophomore years.

ES: Do you know how many goals you scored?

AH: I believe I had 23 goals and 16 assists combined over those two years.

ES: Wow. That's pretty impressive. So, how old were you when you started playing soccer?

AH: Four.

ES: And when you started playing, what position did you play?

AH: I was just all over the place. We didn't really have positions.

ES: Good point. But, when you first got a position, what position was it?

AH: Both forward and goalkeeper.

ES: Which one did you like better?

AH: Forward. For sure. I got to score goals, and I was fast back then! But, I was better as a keeper.

ES: What's the biggest difference between goalkeeper and forward?

AH: Well, as a goalie, you're just standing there most of the time. It can get boring. But, when it's an exciting game, I love it! Just throwing your body around, making saves. It's great.

ES: Did you score any memorable goals as a forward?

AH: I remember I scored a header goal once! It was off a corner. Ding! Right in. It was pretty fun.
