PADUCAH, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky men's golf team remains in front of the pack after firing a tournament-low round of 287 on the second day of play at the 2006 O'Reilly Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship. With Tuesday's final round left to play at the Country Club of Paducah, the Colonels hold an eight-shot lead over Tennessee Tech, who shaved 11 strokes off yesterday's first-round 300 and sits in second with a 589.
Three Colonels are among the Top 10 as freshmen Jesse Massie and Trey Bowling and sophomore Phil Hendrickson are all tied for seventh place with two-round tallies of 145. Hendrickson led Eastern today, firing a team-low 70.
The winner earns the league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Championships. Bids for the NCAA East (Orlando, Fla.), Central (Cleveland, Ohio) and West (Tucson, Ariz.) Regionals will be announced May 8.
