WALNUT, Calif. - Eastern Kentucky University senior Jacob Korir finished fourth in the 5,000 meters at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays Friday night. He was the highest collegiate finisher in the race, defeating such notable names as Sean Quigley of LaSalle, Shadrack Songok of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Josh McDougal of Liberty. His time of 13:29.12 broke his own school record by nearly 18 seconds.
Korir entered the race ranked first in the country in the 5,000 meters, according to runnerspace.com. He did little to move himself from that position as the only runners to beat him were international or sponsored.
Korir and the rest of the Colonel track and field team returns to action April 23-26 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
