EKU Football Kick-Off Rally, Radio Show & Luncheon Begin This Week

RICHMOND, Ky. – Football season has officially started and Eastern Kentucky begins its 2018 campaign on Thursday when Morehead State visits Roy Kidd Stadium.  Don't miss these EKU football events this week leading up to the season-opener.
 
The EKU football kick-off rally is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Gillum's Sports Lounge in the Richmond Mall.   Head coach Mark Elder will preview the Colonels' season-opener.  Free football schedule magnets, posters and schedule cards will be available.  This event is free and open to the public.
 
Each Tuesday, fans are invited to join Elder and the voice of the Colonels, Greg Stotelmyer, for the Mark Elder Radio Show live on location.  This year the show will be at a different location each week.  The first show will follow the kick-off rally on Tuesday at Gillum's.  The radio show will begin at 7 p.m.
 
The remaining radio show schedule is as follows on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.:  Sidelines Casual Dining (Sept. 4), Vintage 18 (Sept. 11), Apollo Pizza (Sept. 18), Gillum's Sports Lounge (Oct. 2), Sidelines Casual Dining (Oct. 9), Vintage 18 (Oct. 16), Apollo Pizza (Oct. 23), Gillum's Sports Lounge (Oct. 30), Sidelines Casual Dining (Nov. 6) and Vintage 18 (Nov. 13).
 
Every Thursday throughout the season, including game day this week, Elder will give an inside look, and answer questions from fans at the Mark Elder Luncheon at Golden Corral.  The luncheon begins at noon.
 
Kickoff against the Eagles is scheduled for 7 p.m.  For ticket information, contact the EKU Athletics Ticket Office at 844-3-GOBIGE.
 
The Eastern Kentucky University football program features the "Best Tradition In FCS Football", having won two national championships, 21 conference titles and made 21 playoff appearances.  No other FCS team has won at least two FCS national titles and 20 or more conference championships.  EKU has had 66 All-America selections and 33 NFL draft picks.
