Willis Gaer tied for fourth and the EKU men's golf team placed fifth at the EKU Intercollegiate sponsored by Raising Cane's on Sunday.

Northern Kentucky captured the team title by seven shots, finishing with an even-par total of 840. Tennessee-Martin (847) placed second. Morehead State (851) was third followed by Bowling Green (857) in fourth.

EKU shot a final round 286 and finished two shots behind Bowling Green with a three-round total of 859 (+19).Â

Tennessee Tech (863) and Evansville (863) tied for sixth. Cleveland State (866) was eighth and Southern Illinois Edwardsville (869) finished ninth. Ohio (870) placed 10th. Murray State (881) and Tennessee State (911) rounded out the field.

The 12-team, 74-player event was contested at the par-70, 6,623-yard University Club at Arlington.

Gaer's final round even-par 70 gave him a 54-hole total of 211 (+1). He led Eastern and tied for fourth overall.Â

Newcomer
Markus Lindgren tied for 20th with a total of 215. He followed a 1-over 71 and an even-par 70 with a final round 4-over 74.Â
Andreas Nielsen (217) tied for 30th.Â
Billy Basham (221) shot Eastern's best round of the day on Sunday with a 69 and tied for 43rd with teammate
Tyler Lippert (221).

The Colonels will return to action Oct. 6 at the three-day Intercollegiate at the Grove hosted by Middle Tennessee State.Â
