Final Results

WESTON, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky men's golf team played three matches at the President's Day Match Play on Monday and Tuesday in Weston, Florida.
 
The two-day event was hosted by George Washington University.  The eight teams competed at the par-72, 6,910-yard course at Weston Hills Country Club.
 
On Monday, fifth seeded EKU lost 5.5-0.5 to fourth seeded Austin Peay in the opening round.  Markus Lindgren, playing at No. 1, halved his match against APSU's Michael Busse.  In the second match of the day, Eastern Kentucky and No. 8 George Washington each finished tied 3.0-3.0, but GWU won on a tiebreaker.  Alex Nordborg (2-and-1) at No. 1, Pablo Carrascosa (1-up) at No. 3 and Markus Lindgren (1-up) at No. 4 defeated their opponents.
 
On Tuesday Eastern Kentucky defeated No. 6 seed St. Bonaventure 5.0-1.0 to claim seventh place at the event.  Willis Gaer won 4-and-3 at No. 1.  Nordborg, Tyler Lippert, Andreas Nielsen and Carrascosa picked up wins as well.  Carrascosa won 7-and-6 at No. 5.
 
The Colonels will return to stroke play action on March 9-10 at the Bash at the Beach hosted by Appalachian State at the Surf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
