EKU Soccer Releases 2023 Schedule

RICHMOND, Ky. – Entering its third season as a member of the ASUN Conference with back-to-back trips to the ASUN Championship semifinals, the EKU soccer program and head coach Matt Cosinuke announced its 2023 schedule on Monday afternoon.

The 2023 schedule is an 18-game slate that includes nine home matches and three non-conference road matches against power-5 or group-5 adversaries.

"We are excited to test ourselves against quality opposition this coming season. The non-conference season is set up to prepare us for conference in several ways," said Cosinuke. "We look forward to the year and our pursuit of an ASUN Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. We can't wait to see families, fans, and alumni at home and on the road this season. GO BIG E!"

Before its seven match non-conference slate, EKU will kick off the season with a road exhibition match against Morehead State on August 9th at 6:00 p.m. ET.

EKU will return home for its Maroon/White scrimmage at the EKU Soccer Field on August 12th. Fans can get their first glimpse at the 2023 squad, which is returning 23 players off last year's team and 11 newcomers. Admission to this home event and all home matches during the 2023 season is free to the public. More information regarding the scrimmage, including the time, will be announced shortly.

EKU will open its regular season on the road against Kentucky on August 17th at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The Colonels are seeking their second win in Lexington in their last six seasons.

After its power-5 bout to open the season, the Colonels will return to the EKU Soccer Field for its home opener against Western Michigan (Aug. 20) and Belmont (Aug. 24).

The maroon will make a trip to the Windy City to face DePaul for the first time in program history on August 31st. EKU's date with DePaul is the first meeting against a Big East program since 2017, when the Colonels defeated Xavier, 1-0, on the road.

EKU will prepare for its last two non-conference home matches against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 3) and Northern Kentucky (Sept. 7), its first meeting with EMU and fourth meeting against NKU in program history.

The Colonels will then begin conference play on the second Thursday in September aiming to qualify for its third consecutive ASUN Championship since joining the league in 2021.

In ASUN play, EKU will host Austin Peay (Sept. 17), North Florida (Sept. 28), Jacksonville (Oct. 1), Stetson (Oct. 12), and reigning conference champion FGCU (Oct. 15) as this year's ASUN home slate.

EKU will hit the road to face Lipscomb (Sept. 14), Queens (Sept. 21), Kennesaw State (Sept. 24), North Alabama (Oct. 5), Central Arkansas (Oct. 8), and Bellarmine (Oct. 21) in conference away matches.

The 2023 ASUN Championship is slated to begin on Thursday, Oct. 26 and run through Friday, Nov. 3 and will be played at the highest remaining seed.
