Future Colonel Micah Davis Is A Finalist For Indiana Mr. Basketball

RICHMOND, Ky. – Micah Davis, who signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University in November, is one of six finalists for the IndyStar Mr. Basketball Award.
 
The Mr. Basketball winner will be announced Tuesday at the Indiana High School Sports Awards Banquet.  Mr. Basketball is awarded to the senior who receives the most votes from the state's high school coaches and media.
 
During the 2023-24 season, Davis earned all-state honors after averaging 25.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game while leading Franklin Community High School to an 18-5 record and a Class 4A Sectional Championship.  
 
The 6-foot-2 guard shot 53 percent from the field, including 37.4 percent (43-for-115) from behind the 3-point line.  Davis scored 1,296 career points in three seasons and set the school record at Franklin with 43 points in a game.
 
Davis earned all-state recognition after averaging 17.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals as a junior for Franklin.  He was a core member of the Junior All-Star team.
 
EKU won the 2023-24 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Championship, the program's first regular season conference title in 45 years.  Head coach A.W. Hamilton was chosen as the ASUN Coach of the Year and the NABC District III Coach of the Year.  He is the first coach in program history to be named conference coach of the year twice.
