Soccer Announces Complete 2024 Fall Schedule

12 Games at EKU Soccer Field Beginning in Early August

RICHMOND, Ky.  –  The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team unveiled its complete 2024 Fall schedule on Tuesday afternoon.  The slate features 12 matches at EKU Soccer Field and two matches against power-5 opponents.
 
The full schedule including times and locations can be found here online.  Admission to all home EKU soccer matches are free to the public, gates will open an hour and thirty minutes before kickoff.
 
The Colonels will open the 2024 season with a home exhibition match against Louisville on Aug. 8 and complete the preseason slate with an intrasquad scrimmage on Aug. 11.  Both events will be free and open to the public.
 
EKU opens the regular season with two road matches against Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 15 and East Tennessee State on Aug. 18.  The Colonels lead the all-time series over ETSU 2-1 and will meet for the first time since 2018.
 
The Colonels return home for three consecutive home matches against Morehead State on Aug. 22, Southern Indiana on Aug. 25, and Eastern Illinois on Sept. 1.  EKU and in-state rival MSU meet for the first time since 2021.
 
September continues with a road contest at Northern Kentucky on Sept. 5 and will end the week hosting Youngstown State on Sept. 8.  NKU owns the head-to-head series 4-1 over EKU and the Colonels will play YSU for the first time in program history.
 
The Fall non-conference schedule is highlighted and ends with a power-5 matchup at Vanderbilt on Sept. 12.  EKU is seeking its first P5 win since 2018 when the Colonels took down Southeastern Conference (SEC) foe Kentucky in Richmond.
 
After the non-con slate, EKU will play a 11-game Atlantic Sun Conference schedule that features six home matches against Lipscomb (Sept. 19), FGCU (Sept. 26), Stetson (Sept. 29), West Georgia (Oct. 10), Queens (Oct. 13), and Bellarmine (Oct. 25).
 
The Colonels will travel to five conference opponents in the 2024 season including Austin Peay (Sept. 22), Central Arkansas (Oct. 3), North Alabama (Oct. 6), Jacksonville (Oct. 17), and North Florida (Oct. 20).

After the completion of the regular season, EKU will look to appear in the ASUN Tournament which would mark the fourth consecutive year in the field.  EKU has appeared in the semifinals in two if its three seasons in the league.  In 2022, EKU became the first member institution since 1999 to appear in the semifinals in the first two years of membership.
 
EKU returns 20 student-athletes from last year's team, including ASUN All-Conference selections Nerea de DiegoMarah Krick, and Paula Herranz.  The Colonels also added a nine-member freshman class which is regarded as the most highly decorated group of incoming freshmen in program history – consisting of three all-Americans and a youth national team selection.
