Women’s Soccer Announces Staff Updates Ahead of 2025 Season

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer team and head coach Matt Cosinuke announced updates to its coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season.

Tatum Tremain has been elevated to a full-time assistant coach after one season with the program and former Colonel Kara Haas has been hired as the team's part-time assistant coach.

"I am so blessed to have Tatum and Kara return to our family," said Cosinuke. "We are bringing in two women who have elite character, work ethic and a personality that everyone loves to be around."

Last season, Tremain assisted one of the best seasons in program history which ended for EKU in the Atlantic Sun Conference championship match.  The Colonels finished the 2024 season with a 12-8-3 overall record and 7-3-1 mark in league play.

On the pitch, EKU and its women's soccer student-athletes recorded program-leading statistics en route to its third conference championship appearance in school history.  The Colonels set program records in points (89), assists (31), shots attempted (287), and had the second-most goals (29) in a single season.

Individually, sophomore Chiara Premoli ended the season with seven assists, the most in a single season in program history.  Up front, freshman Ella Grode combined for 17 points off six goals and five assists—the fourth most points in a single season.  Both student-athletes were named United Soccer Coaches All-South Region and Second Team All-ASUN honors at the end of the year.  EKU had seven student-athletes combine for nine ASUN postseason awards—the third most in program history.

Off the field, five EKU student-athletes were named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Teams by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

"Tatum is incredibly intelligent, a gifted relationship builder and is wise beyond her years," said Cosinuke. "She has been such a positive influence on our young women since her arrival and we are thrilled to have her with us for the future."

Haas will rejoin the program as a part-time assistant coach, she's a 2023 graduate of EKU and was a four-year letterwinner on the women's soccer team.

During her time in Richmond, Haas appeared in over 40 games as a midfielder/defender.  She had a 60 percent shot on goal rate and scored a goal during the 2021 season against IU Indy.  The Florida native helped EKU to 27 wins and three appearances in the ASUN Conference Tournament from 2020-23.

"Kara was a four-year contributor for our program and peer voted leadership group member her senior year," said Cosinuke. "She left her mark on the program with exceptionally character, a high level of soccer intelligence and was never afraid to express her opinions for the better of the group. I know she will make us immediately better."

EKU is currently in the middle of its 2025 Spring schedule in preparation for the regular season beginning in August.  The Colonels will have home matches against Miami (Ohio) and Campbellsville on April 6 at the EKU Soccer Field, they are tentatively scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET and are free for the public.
