Matt Cosinuke Signs Contract Extension

RICHMOND, Ky. – On the heels of one of the best seasons in program history that included an appearance in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship match, Eastern Kentucky University and head women's soccer coach Matt Cosinuke have agreed to a contract extension.

Cosinuke will enter his seventh year at the helm when the 2025 season kicks off in August.  He's led the Colonels to 43 wins since 2019, the second most by a head coach in program history.

"I want to thank Kyle Moats and Rachel Slone for the belief in the direction of our program and continuing to have my family be part of it," said Cosinuke. "I believe we have a really special group of people here in the women's soccer family and the greater EKU athletics community. Go Big E!"

In 2024, EKU achieved new heights advancing to the ASUN Conference Championship match in just its fourth season as a member of the league.  The Colonels finished the campaign with a 12-8-3 overall record and 7-3-1 mark in league play.

Last season's squad was one of the most explosive teams in school history, setting program records in points (89), assists (31), shots attempted (287), and had the second-most goals (29) in a singular year.  EKU had two student-athletes named United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-South Region and seven players log nine ASUN postseason awards—the third most in program history.

Off the field, EKU had five student-athletes named to the Academic All-District® Teams by College Sports Communicators (CSC).  The Colonels have been awarded over 40 postseason honors under Cosinuke's guidance.

"Coach Cosinuke led us to 12 wins and an appearance in the conference championship, we are encouraged by what the future holds." said EKU Vice President and Director of Athletics Kyle Moats.

Fans are encouraged to be on the lookout for the 2025 Fall schedule which will be released in the coming weeks.  EKU is currently in the middle of its Spring schedule, it's next match is on April 6 at 2 p.m. ET against Miami (Ohio) and Campbellsville University.
