LEXINGTON, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University's beach volleyball team was named as a winner of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, for the 2024-25 academic year.
 
In the classroom, the team posted a fall semester GPA of 3.785, the highest term GPA of all EKU athletic programs, with the entire team earning Colonel Scholar recognition.
 
In the spring, the Colonels posted a cumulative term GPA of 3.612, with the entire team recording individual GPAs of 3.0 or higher, with six individuals posting perfect 4.0 GPAs.
 
To earn the award, teams must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale throughout the academic year's fall and spring semesters.
 
The Colonels' success in the classroom matched their success on the sand, with the team posting its third consecutive winning season while also claiming their first ASUN Conference Tournament victory at the end of the season with a 3-0 win over Central Arkansas.
