JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a standout weekend against Bellarmine,
Emily Mariscal was named ASUN Player of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Following a game one loss to the Knights, Mariscal helped power the Colonels to back-to-back wins to claim the series.
Mariscal paced EKU at the plate, hitting .833 while posting three RBIs, one double, and one triple. She also recorded a 1.333 slugging percentage and an .857 on-base percentage during the series.
In Saturday's opener, Mariscal went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a triple. Her extra-base hit sparked EKU's comeback in the fourth inning, helping ignite four unanswered runs in the Colonels' game two victory.
She carried that momentum into Sunday's rubber match, turning in a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three RBIs and a double in EKU's 6-1 win. Mariscal drove in half of the Colonels' runs, beginning with an RBI double in the first inning that gave EKU an early 2-0 advantage.
Later, with the Colonels holding a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, Mariscal delivered the decisive blow with a two-run single to left field, extending the lead to 4-1 and putting the game out of reach.
Defensively, Mariscal was equally sharp, totaling three putouts, eight assists, and a double play while finishing the weekend with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
The honor marks the first weekly award of Mariscal's career.
