Individuals wishing to parallel their passion for women’s sports at EKU can expect their funds to promote the creation of opportunities for the next generation of EKU’s female student-athletes. Efforts around the initiative will empower female student-athletes through specialized learning & leadership opportunities.
In addition, efforts will be made to positively impact female coaches, support staff, and administrators as they work to benefit student-athletes and make an impact across the collegiate athletics landscape.
EKU offers nine women’s sports amongst its 16 sponsored sports, including softball, basketball, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, cross country, volleyball, beach volleyball, golf, and soccer.
In spring 2021, EKU Athletics’ Senior Woman Administrator Rachel Slone brought to the attention of the Colonel Club staff the direction that other institutions had taken towards funding new programs that would empower and champion female student-athletes. Supported by initial giving from several donors around EKU Giving Day on April 14, 2021, the financial funding for these programs was realized. Continued funding will impact the next generation of leaders emerging from EKU’s nine women’s sport programs.
