Kayla Schanback was chosen as EKU's assistant volleyball coach in February 2019.


Schanback comes from Virginia Tech, where she was a volunteer assistant coach. During her time at Virginia Tech she managed on court and video work with players, scouting opposing teams, supported recruiting, assisted with game day operations, coordinated equipment, developed and maintained knowledge of all rules and regulations of the NCAA.
 
"I'm very excited to have Kayla as a part of the EKU volleyball program," Fouch said. "She has the experience and knowledge of the game that I think can help elevate our program."
 
Kayla was a four-year player at Campbell University where she collected 1,000 career digs in her career. She was named Big South Conference Defensive player of the Week five times; All-Big South Conference second team twice and two-time All-Big South Tournament team.
 
"During her playing career at Campbell, she helped lead that program to one of its most successful seasons," Fouch said. "Kayla was a two time All-Big South Conference honoree and will be most influential when it comes to our defensive specialists. Welcome to the family!"
 
Schanback was a student assistant at Campbell University, where she helped coach the freshman defensive players, organized the recruiting matrix and handled all administrative duties.
 
She got her bachelor's of business administration degree with a minor in sport management in 2018. She was named to the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll for three years.
