Biography

AS A SENIOR IN 2019-20
Made four appearances, playing 12 rounds … had a 78.58 stroke average … shot a season-low round of 72 twice … tied for 15th in a field of 96 golfers at the Redbird Invitational (Sept. 8-9), carding a season-best three-round total of 224 (+8).

AS A JUNIOR IN 2018-19
Made seven appearances, playing 21 rounds … had a 78.05 stroke average … shot a season-low 73 twice, at the season-opening Redbird Invitational (Sept. 9-10) and the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship (Nov. 5-6) … her best finish was a tie for 12th with a season-best 54-hole total of 226 (+10) at the Redbird Invitational ... WGCA All-American Scholar ... earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2017-18
Saw action in all 11 of the team’s events, playing a total of 31 rounds … posted a 78.06 stroke average … had three top-10 finishes, including two in the top-5 … placed fifth at the Losantiville Challenge (Sept. 5) with a 36-hole total of 155 … posted back-to-back top-10 finishes in the final two events of the season … tied for 5th at the Colonel Classic (March 30-31) … tied for 10th at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship (April 16-18) … shot a season-best round of 70 (-2) at the OVC Championship, the lowest round by a Colonel at the event ... WGCA All-American Scholar ... earned the Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor, which is given annually to the student-athletes that achieve the highest grade point average in a conference-sponsored sport … earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2016-17
Played in two events and a total of five rounds … shot a season-low round of 82 at the Colonel Classic (March 31) ... earned a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
HIGH SCHOOL
Chosen as the WPGA Junior Girls Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015 … earned first team all-state honors as a senior and was chosen second team all-state as a junior … won four tournaments her senior season and led the field at the state tournament after the first day … won the longest drive competition at the Optimist International and placed 19th out of 121 golfers after shooting 75, 72, 81 and 71 … posted a 74 scoring average in 2015 … won four tournaments her junior season, including the regionals … won the GofTec Championship after firing a hole-in-one on the final hole.

Full name is Mikayla Lyn (Hauck) Groonwald ... daughter of Jodi Ray and Kim Hauck … has one sister – Megan ... married Ben Groonwald in the summer of 2018 ... majoring in accounting.
