Brie Wajer

Brie Wajer was named assistant coach on the EKU women's basketball staff in June of 2025.

Wajer returns to EKU after spending the 2024–25 season at Army West Point, where she served as an assistant coach and led the program’s player development efforts.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Brie back to EKU,” said EKU head women's basketball coach Greg Todd.  “Her strong work ethic and ability to connect with players left a lasting mark on our program.  She’s bringing back valuable experience from Army’s outstanding season, which included 25 wins and a WNIT victory. Brie’s energy and leadership will be a difference-maker for us.”

With West Point, Wajer played a key role in the Black Knights’ 25-win season and runner-up finish in the Patriot League Women’s Basketball Tournament.  The team went on to capture its first-ever national postseason victory, edging Bryant 59–58 in the opening round of the 2025 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

Wajer also contributed to one of the nation’s top defensive units.  Army ranked 26th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 56.6 points per game.  The team held 17 opponents under their season-average in scoring defense and 10 opponents under 50 points.

In her previous role with EKU, alongside her coaching duties Wajer managed a wide range of responsibilities, including coordinating one of the most extensive travel schedules in women’s college basketball, assisting with budget oversight, serving as the team’s academic liaison, and facilitating team and student-athlete initiatives in the community.

During the 2022-23 season, Wajer helped guide the program to a 18-14 overall record and 11-7 mark in ASUN Conference play. EKU would go on to advance to the ASUN Tournament quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. Brie facilitated one of the heaviest travel schedules in all of NCAA women's basketball, including trips to Ireland, Boston, New York City, and a complete ASUN Conference travel slate.

Prior to arriving to Richmond, Wajer spent the 2021-22 season as the assistant director of basketball operations with Villanova women's basketball. Brie helped oversee all aspects of the program, including the operations of the budget, academics, travel, meals, ticketing and recruiting team managers.

In her first season on Denise Dillons' coaching staff, Brie helped the program to a 24-9 record and upset victory over No. 8 UConn on the road in the regular season, snapping the Huskies consecutive conference win streak at 193. Brie played a huge role in the programs post-season effort when VU went on to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, the Wildcats would go on to topple BYU advancing to the NCAA Round of 32.

Prior to joining the VU women's basketball staff, Wajer spent three seasons as a student-athlete with the program from 2018-21.  In her junior season, she helped lead the team to a 17-7 record and an appearance in the Big East quarterfinals.  Villanova also made a quarterfinals appearance in the WNIT with wins over UMass and Florida. During the 2019-20 season, Wajer appeared in 16 games and was instrumental in helping the team to a 18-13 record, appearing in the Big East quarterfinals
