Benjamin was named the OVC Track and Field Female Freshman of Year in April after exploding onto the OVC sprinting scene in her first year at EKU. Benjamin won the 60 meters at the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships in February with a championships record time of 7.55. Her performance was one of only two on the day to break an OVC record. She then placed second in the 100 meters (11.84) and third in the 200 meters (24.69) at the OVC Outdoor Championships.
