Corey Walden was selected first team All-Ohio Valley Conference and OVC Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Walden put up numbers worthy of OVC Player of the Year consideration. He is the only player in the conference ranked in the top-10 in scoring (2nd), field goal percentage (7th), assists (7th) and steals (1st). He averaged 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line.

He also ranks second in the OVC in free throw shooting and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6). The Dayton Beach native ranks second in the nation in steals per game and 34th in scoring.

Walden has tied the EKU career record with 221 steals, which is also tied for the eighth most in the history of the OVC. His 84 steals this season are the ninth most single season total in OVC history.

Walden scored a new career-high 35 points on 11-of-14 shooting. He had a lay-up, a key rebound and two free throws in the final 25 seconds to secure the 70-67 victory.
