The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to the No. 1 seed Tennessee Tech today, Apr. 16, in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in Nashville, Tenn.
John Kellert earned the lone point for the Colonels with an impressive win over Tech’s Marco Born at No. 1 singles. Kellert topped Born by scores of 6-4, 6-4.
“Finishing as low in the conference as we did really hurt us when it came to seedings because the league has significantly improved,” said EKU head coach Rob Oertel. “It’s tougher this year, but hopefully, we can make some noise tomorrow and finish up strong.”
EKU will take on No. 4 seed Samford on Saturday, Apr. 17, at 1:30 AM.
