MURRAY, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team used a fast-paced offense to keep host Murray State off its guard, averaging 21 kills per game and hitting at a .320 pace in its 30-23, 30-25, 30-20 shutout win. With the win, the Colonels improve to 17-6 overall and 9-2 in the OVC.
Liz Guard led the Colonels with 17 kills and served up two aces. Amy Arlinghaus and Shelly George each added 13 kills for EKU. George had no errors in 21 attacks for a .619 percentage, while Arlinghaus had only one error in 29 attacks for a .414 percentage. Guard hit .400 for the Colonels.
Brittany Nobilio led the Colonels with 17 digs, while Jessica Sabath added 16 and Kelly Jennings handed out 48 assists for EKU.
For Murray State, Lisa Forchee registered a team-high 12 kills and Heather Norris paced the team with 20 digs. Holly Jansen had a match-high four blocks for MSU and Kelsey Hubert handed out 31 assists and had three blocks.
The Colonels face Tennessee-Martin on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
