CHARLESTON, Ill. Senior Liz Guard tallied a match-high 17 kills and hit .342 to lead the top-seeded Eastern Kentucky volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-23, 30-24, 40-22) sweep of Southeast Missouri, advancing to tomorrow's championship match of the 2005 O'Reilly Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament against Jacksonville State. The match will be televised on ESPNU at 1:00 p.m.
Junior Jessica Sabath posted 12 kills while Amy Arlinghaus chipped in with 10. Sabath added a team-high 19 digs to record her team leading 16th double-double of the season. The 2005 OVC Defensive Player of the Year Brittany Nobilio finished the match with 18 digs and freshmen Andrea Wesley added 14. Kelly Jennings registered a double-double with 46 assists and 11 digs in the contest.
The Colonels held the Redhawks to a .068 hitting percentage including -.020 in the first game.
Jessica Koeper led the Redhawks with her team-high 21st double-double of the season. Koeper posted 12 kills and 10 digs in the match. Lauren Scannell paced the Southeast Missouri defense with 24 digs while Jamie Baumstark added 13.
