Sophomore Brittany Nobilio
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sophomore Brittany Nobilio registered a season-high 32 digs to lead the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team to its eighth consecutive victory, a 3-0 sweep of Lipscomb (30-28, 30-20, 30-25) Saturday afternoon.

Senior Liz Guard tallied a team-high 15 kills and a match-best .542 attack percentage for the Colonels. Junior Jessica Sabath's 14 kills and 13 digs marking her third double-double of the season.

Game one was a see-saw affair with neither team holding more than one-point lead until the Colonels took a 14-12 advantage. EKU led by at least two points the rest of the way as the Lady Bisons pulled within one point at 29-28 but were unable to hold off the Colonels.

Game two started out with the Lady Bisons taking a 2-1 lead, but the Colonels went ahead 3-2 and never looked back. EKU led by nine points on at least three different occasions and won the game by 10 points.

Game three was much like game one as the Colonels took the early lead, but the Lady Bisons refused to go away easily. There were eight ties, the final one at 12-12, after which EKU took a 13-12 advantage and never trailed again. The Lady Bisons overcame a seven-point deficit (24-17) to pull within three points at 28-25, but could not sustain the rally.

The Lady Bison (3-12) were led by junior Lindsey Rutherford with a match-high 16 kills and junior Ann Mullins with a team-high 23 digs.

The Colonels play their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they take on the Dayton Flyers.
