CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Junior Jessica Sabath registered  a double-double and sophomore Amy Arlinghaus, a team-high 15 kills, to lead the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team to a sweep (30-25, 30-25, 30-26) of Southeast Missouri Friday night at Houck Fieldhouse.
Sabath tallied 23 digs and 10 kills to lead four Colonels in double-digit digs. Sophomore Vannessa Jones notched 11 digs, after recording 13 against Dayton on Tuesday. Senior Liz Guard added 14 kills and junior Kelly Jennings (42 assists, 10 digs) had her team-high sixth double-double of the season.
EKU won the first game using a blistering .358 attack percentage which the Colonels were able to top in game two, hitting .385 to take a 2-0 lead. Despite hitting only .148 in the third game, Eastern was able to hold the Redhawks (5-9, 2-1) to a .087 hitting percentage and earn its third straight victory to open the OVC season.
The Redhawks were led by junior Jessica Koeper and senior Lauren Scannell who had match-highs of 21 kills and 26 digs, respectively.
The Colonels conclude their road-trip tomorrow against Eastern Illinois at 3 p.m.
