COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Behind senior Jessica Sabath's double-double, the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team defeated Tennessee Tech 3-2 (30-22, 30-24, 30-32, 20-30, 15-11) tonight to end the regular season. With the win, the Colonels improve to 17-13 mark, 10-6 in the conference.
Eastern Kentucky earns the #4 seed in the upcoming OVC Volleyball Championships and will face #5 Morehead State on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ala.
Sabath led the team with 18 kills and recorded 29 digs. Junior Brittany Nobilio registered her third 40+ dig game of the season with a team-best 41.
Eastern Kentucky held the lead for the majority of game one, pulling ahead 22-14 with a Sabath kill, before taking the eight-point win.
In game two, Tennesse Tech jumped to the early advantage but Eastern Kentucky knotted the score at eight with a service ace from freshman Abbey Blank and never looked back.
The Golden Eagles captured both games three and four, going into extra points in the third set, but the Colonels claimed the win in game five as Blank served the final two points in the match.
The Colonels return to action on Thursday in the conference championships.
