UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team closed out play in the Penn State Invitational with a 3-0 (30-15, 30-23, 30-19) victory over West Virginia Saturday. The Colonels improve to 2-4 with the victory.
Sophomore Bridget Mustard led the Colonels with a career-high 11 kills and was the only EKU player with double-figures in the kill column.
WVU (1-5) took the lead early in game one, but Eastern Kentucky answered with 15 team kills to take the match 30-15.
The Mountaineers suffered a 0-2 deficit at the beginning of game two from which they could not recover. The Colonels won that contest 30-23.
West Virginia put the first points on the board in game three. However, with 13 kills to the Mountaineer's eight, the Colonels ended up on top with a score of 30-19.
Senior Kelly Jennings was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Colonels face Birmingham Southern on September 8 at 5 p.m. in Chattanooga.
