RICHMOND, Ky. - With her fifth consecutive double-double, senior Jessica Sabath helped lead the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-18) win over visiting Lipscomb this afternoon at McBrayer Arena. The Colonels improve to 8-7 while the Lady Bison lose their 11th straight and fall to 3-11.

Sabath led the Colonels in both kills and digs with 12 and 14, respectively. Senior Kelly Jennings recorded 43 assists and classmate Kasha Brozek finished with six blocks, two solo and four assist.

Eastern ended both game two and three with an attack percentage over .300 with .386 in the second game and .371 in the final contest. The Colonels dominated offensively, holding the Lady Bison to a hitting percentage of just .071.

After a 6-6 tie in the first game, Eastern Kentucky took a 10-point lead (21-11) with back-to-back block assists. Lipscomb cut its deficit to just four after two kills and three Colonel errors but Eastern outscored the Lady Bison 7-3 to take the win.

Game two was closer as neither team was able to extend its lead to more than two points until a Sabath kill set the score at 20-17. The Colonels scored 10 of the final 13 points to take the double-digit victory.

Eastern Kentucky never trained in the third set, taking a double-figure lead (16-6) with a kill from sophomore Bridget Mustard. A kill from junior Amy Arlinghaus put the game away as the Colonels won their second straight match.

Senior Linndsey Rutherford led the Lady Bison with 10 kills.

The Colonels face East Tennessee State tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn.
