RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team will play two Ohio Valley Conference road matches this weekend. The Colonels (1-13, 0-4 OVC) will face Eastern Illinois University on Friday at 8 p.m., in Charleston, Ill. On Saturday EKU will travel to Cape Girardeau for a 3 p.m. match against Southeast Missouri State.
EKU senior Brittany Nobilio broke the OVC career digs record last weekend against Tennessee Tech. Nobilio now has 2,108 career digs and ranks 11th on the NCAA’s list of career digs. She needs 235 more digs this season to break into the NCAA top five. Nobilio ranks second in the OVC this season with an average of 5.65 digs per game.
Junior Amanda Wilson leads the squad with 160 kills. Freshman Leah Nelson is second on the team with 140 kills. Freshman Amanda Fago has turned in three double-digit kill performances in her last five matches. She has recorded 71 of her 80 kills during that stretch. Sophomore Abbey Blank is serving as the team’s primary setter. She has 232 assists this season.
Eastern Illinois enters Friday’s match with a 7-7 record, but the Panthers are 0-5 in OVC matches. EIU has lost six straight matches overall. Eliza Zwettler leads the Panther attack with 227 kills. She ranks fourth in the OVC with an average of 3.85 kills per game. Alex Zwettler is second on the team with 193 kills. Maren Crabtree is the team’s primary setter, totaling 1,646 assists through 14 matches.
As a team Eastern Illinois ranks second in the OVC with an average of 1.78 aces per game.
Southeast Missouri State enters the weekend with a 7-8 mark and a 3-2 conference record. The Redhawks play Morehead State at home Friday. SEMO has won two straight matches, including a 3-2 win at Memphis. Southeast Missouri is 4-1 in its last five matches.
Aubrey Dondlinger leads the Redhawks with 189 kills. Karleigh DeLong has 165. Brenna Schlader has a team-best 58 blocks.
