RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University’s volleyball team will participate in the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by the University of California on Friday and Saturday at the Haas Pavilion in Berkley, Calif. The Lady Colonels will face No. 12 Minnesota at 7:30 p.m., on Friday. On Saturday, EKU will play No. 15 California at 3 p.m., and will finish off with Utah State at 7 p.m.

The Colonels (1-5) picked up their first win of the season at last weekend’s Clarion Classic, hosted by Western Michigan. EKU shutout Chicago State before returning to Richmond. In their last outing, Eastern dropped a road match at Kentucky on Tuesday.

Amanda Wilson and Leah Nelson led the Colonel attack against Chicago State, finishing with 18 and 15 kills respectively. Brittany Nobilio added 23 digs.

Minnesota enters the weekend with a 2-2 record. Cal is off to a 5-1 start to the 2007 season. Utah State begins play Friday with a 2-4 mark.
