RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team dropped its final two matches at the Golden Bear Invitational today hosted by the University of California in Berkeley, Calif. The Colonels fell to 15th ranked California 3-0 (30-16, 30-16, 30-19) and also dropped a 3-0 (30-18, 30-24, 30-16) decision to Utah State.

Kate Hendle finished with 20 assists and five digs against Cal (7-1). Ellen Orchard led the Golden Bear attack with 16 kills. Cal hit .449 for the match.

Amanda Wilson finished with 10 kills for EKU (1-8) against Utah State and Hendle added 28 assists. Amanda Nielson and Melissa Osterloh finished with 15 and 13 kills respectively for Utah State.

The Colonels will return to action on Friday when they open Ohio Valley Conference play by hosting Austin Peay at McBrayer Arena. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
