EKU Volleyball Ends Road Trip With Win At Tennessee State

Lindsey Loescher's 29 kills led EKU to a road win at Tennessee State.

Junior Lindsey Loescher recorded a double-double and the Eastern Kentucky volleyball team held off a rally by Tennessee State for a 3-2 win. The Colonels (4-16, 3-7 OVC) won the first set before the Tigers (5-13, 3-7 OVC) won the next two. EKU won the fourth set by nine to even the match and then picked up a two-point victory in the fifth set for the match victory.

Game scores were 25-22, 15-25, 18-25, 25-16 and 15-13.

Loescher posted a match-high 29 kills, a .299 attack percentage and totaled 15 digs. Senior Bridget Mustard finished with 12 kills, four digs, three aces and two blocks. Setter Kate Hendle contributed a match-high 46 assists and sophomore Abby O'Connor finished with a match-best 28 digs.

Christian Lowe and Candace Saleaumua each finished with 19 kills for Tennessee State. Lowe hit .333 and Saleaumua totaled 18 digs.

The Colonels trailed 9-5 in the fifth set before using an 8-2 run to take a 13-11 lead. The Tigers tied it at 13-13, but back-to-back kills by Loescher gave the win to Eastern.

The Colonels will return to action on Homecoming weekend at McBrayer Arena. On Friday, EKU will host Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. Southeast Missouri State will visit McBrayer Arena on Saturday for a match at noon.
