Live Stats at Eastern Illinois
RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team will get its first taste of Ohio Valley Conference play with a road trip to face Southeast Missouri State and Eastern Illinois. The Colonels (1-8, 0-0 OVC) will play SEMO at 8 p.m. (ET) on Friday. Eastern will finish off the road trip with a 3 p.m. (ET) match at EIU on Saturday.
The Colonels have won only one of their first nine matches, but the team has faced a tough schedule with four members of the team unable to play due to injury. Junior newcomer Lindsey Loescher and seniors Amanda Wilson and Bridget Mustard have led the squad during non-conference play.
Loescher averages a team-best 2.5 kills per set and has also contributed 1.83 digs per set, second best on the team. Wilson is averaging 1.67 kills per set and a team-best 0.30 blocks per set. Mustard has contributed 1.27 kills per set and 0.23 blocks.
Southeast Missouri is 2-4 overall. After winning two of three matches last week, three Redhawks were selected for OVC weekly awards. Claire Keaton was named Offensive Player of the Week after recording a pair of double-doubles, two 20-kill performances and a 19-kill match. Molly Davis earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after turning in 93 digs in three matches, including back-to-back 35-dig performances. Alyssa Aston garnered Setter of the Week recognition after dishing out 142 assists in three matches.
Eastern Illinois enters the weekend with a 3-7 record and having lost four straight. Alex Zwettler leads the team with an average of 3.22 kills per set. Lauren Sopcic has a team-high 10 blocks. Brittany Wallace averages a team-best 3.41 digs per game.
