Colonels Conclude Road Swing at OVC Rival

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team wraps up its four-game road swing this Saturday at OVC rival Morehead State. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m.

A win for Eastern Kentucky (11-8, 4-4 OVC) would push the Colonels’ OVC record over .500 for the first time this season. EKU is currently in a three-way tie for fifth in the league standings with Murray State and Tennessee State. The last six games between Eastern and Morehead State in Morehead have been decided by less than an average of six points.

Morehead State (10-10, 6-2 OVC) has won seven of its last nine games overall including an 81-57 win over Concord on Monday. The Eagles currently sit in second place in the OVC while going 4-0 at home against league opponents. Sophomore Kenneth Faried has tallied 11 double-doubles in 19 games. Faried is fifth nationally in rebounding at 12.2 rpg and is second on the team in scoring at 12.6 ppg. Morehead State leads the OVC in rebounding margin at +6.7.

Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series, 100-68. However, Morehead State swept the season series last year for the first time in four years. The Eagles held EKU to an average of 51 points per game in two meetings in 2007-08.

Following the Morehead State game, the Colonels return home to face OVC leader Austin Peay on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
