Volleyball Falls At Tennessee Tech

Junior Abby O'Connor cracked EKU's top-10 for career digs.

Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team lost to Tennessee Tech , 3-0, on Friday. Junior Abby O'Connor needed one dig to crack EKU’s career top-10 list, she finished with 14 against the Golden Eagles.

Game scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-17.

The Colonels (4-14, 4-5 OVC) had their two-match winning streak snapped. Junior Autumn Harms led EKU with 14 kills and two block assists. Junior Kelsey Rose contributed a match-best 17 digs.

O’Connor now has 1,089 career digs, just three shy of ninth place on the school’s all-time list

Tennessee Tech (7-12, 6-4 OVC) finished with just two more kills, 40-38, but made only 10 errors for a .250 attack percentage. Eastern committed 26 errors and hit just .098. The Golden Eagles also held a 7-2 advantage in blocks.

Leah Meffert led TTU with 18 kills. She hit .368, added 10 digs and two block assists. Kelsey Gray finished with four blocks and four kills.

The Colonels will play at first place Jacksonville State on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
