RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will host a pair of volleyball matches this weekend. On Friday, the Colonels will face Murray State at 7 p.m. Tennessee-Martin and EKU will square off at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Eastern Kentucky (2-13, 2-4 OVC) has won two of its last three matches. The team’s only loss in their last three was a five-set setback at Austin Peay. The Lady Govs sit second in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.

On Tuesday against APSU, junior setter Kate Hendle moved to seventh in EKU history with 1,928 career assists. Hendle needs 81 more to reach sixth on the all-time list. Junior libero #Abby O’Connor# needs 41 more digs to break into EKU’s career top-10 list for that category.

The Colonels have faced both teams once already this season. EKU lost at Murray State 3-0 and suffered a 3-2 loss at UT Martin.

Murray State (3-13, 3-3 OVC) opened the season with 10 straight losses before defeating Eastern on Sept. 19. The Racers are 3-3 in their last six matches. In addition to its conference win over the Colonels, MSU has also beaten Eastern Illinois (3-1) and UT Martin (3-0). Murray State is currently fourth in the OVC.

The Colonels and Racers will be playing for the 67th time. EKU holds a 38-28 advantage in the series. The first meeting between the two schools was in 1972.

The Skyhawks (7-9, 2-3 OVC) snapped a five-match losing skid on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois. After opening the season 5-1, including a win at Indiana, UTM has won just two of 10 since. Tennessee-Martin sits eighth in the conference standings.

The Colonels and Skyhawks will be playing for the 38th time. EKU holds a 23-14 advantage in the series. The first meeting between the two schools was in 1973.
